I have been unable to find this information on the Microsoft documents or forums & would appreciate advice from the community. I handle tech support for a small business which currently uses Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard for a single location server along with a combination of 16 desktops & laptops running either windows 10 or 11 pro & active domain logins. The company is interested in an in-place upgrade of Windows Server to Windows Server 2019 as their hardware remains in good condition & meets all necessary system requirements for 2019. My question is whether an upgrade pathway allows for an in-place upgrade from the Server 2012 R2 Standard edition to Server 2019 Essentials as the company has no need for the added capacity beyond 25 users/50 devices.
Thank you!
First you should question yourself if it is a good idea to keep using the hardware you have now? Inplace upgrade upgrades of Domain Controllers are a bad idea, migrate to new hardware
