In migration from from SBS2011 to Exchange 2016.

In your example your use:

Set the variable $AutodiscoverHostName = "mail.contoso.com"

And yet in the PowerShell example you refer to autodiscover.server-essentials.com

Which should I use? mail or autodiscover

    Hello David,

    Please, use autodiscover.domain.com. I have changed the text in the Powershell commands so that they also show what the screenshot shows. Make sure you also have an autodiscover record in public DNS. Thanks!

    I have added more explanation to this chapter on SCP and when and why you can/must/should use mail.domain.com or autodiscover.domain.com. It is really a choice you should make.
