Adding shared folders to DFS replication

Sorry if this is a bit of a daft question, maybe i've missed something but I need a little advice on section 9 of the SBS 2008 to Server 2016 guide with regards to the DFS replication.

The guide only mentions migrating the folder redirection folder but doesn't mention adding any other company shared folders. Is it necessary to just follow the same process for each shared folder we need to migrate which seems to create a new namespace for each folder? Or can we simply add multiple folder pairs to the existing 'replication' namespace created using the guide?

I've attempted to add folders to 'Replication' but that results in an error "Check DFS Replication member validity". I see there are two other namespaces automatically created called 'Company' and 'Users' so I'm guessing we just do the same for each shared folder but just wanted clarification.

Thanks

Mike

It is meant as an example so yes, just add more folder pairs as you need. Do not create more namespaces.

Thanks for that.

Any views on the error when adding extra folder pairs? When attempting to add additional folders we get the error "Check DFS Replication member validity", just wondering if that's something you've seen before.

Can we have a Teamviewer session on this? Pls, open a ticket here Premier Support for SMB

Thanks for that. I'm going to be out of the office for the rest of the day so I'll probably be in touch tomorrow to pick this up if that's ok.

Sorry, one more thing..

As we've installed the essential experience role is it necessary to create the shared folder using the dashboard before  setting up the replication in order for the shared folder to appear in the dashboard?

Also I've noticed that the dashboard states that the 'Company' and 'Users' default shared folders are missing but if I click to open the folders they are there. Of course I haven't finished the migration guide yet so this may very well be resolved later on but just thought I'd mention it in case this needs a manual fix.

Thanks

Yes, before you can setup replication you need to create folders from within the Dashboard. Yes, those folders can look 'missing' but as soon as you remove the folders again from DFS they will appear again on the dashboard.
