Best practice: How to back up Server 2016 Virtual Machine?

What is a good way to back up a Server 2016 running as a Hyper V virtual machine on a Server 2016 system?

  1. Windows Server Backup on the guest OS to an external USB drive?
  2. Back up the Host along with the VM's by using Windows Server Backup on the Host?
  3. Third party software?

Hello

I am using Acronis backup server and only backup the VM's

The host is pretty easy too install

Working a few years already
