Hi,
I client with 20+ users would like to change from WSE Folder Redirection to Backup Folders to OneDrive before they remove the 2016 Essentials and change to new Server 2022. (They would like to stop using Folder Redirection at all).
In this link https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/redirect-known-folders I read:
The OneDrive Known Folder Move Group Policy objects won't work if you previously used Windows Folder Redirection Group Policy objects to redirect the Documents, Pictures, or Desktop folders to a location other than OneDrive.
Any experience in doing this change? Any pitfalls? What are the safe steps for this to work?
Any suggestions?
If you want this you need to run the wizard from the dashboard that controls the way folder redirection works on a typical Essentials server. This will copy all contents for those folders to the local hard drive of the workstation the user is logged onto. You need to make sure you have enough diskspace on those workstations. You need to take time for that and run gpresult /h to see if the Folder Redirection policy is no longer active on those workstations.
Once the above is done you can start backing up to Onedrive
