Disk Image to VHDX instead of Robocopy - Essentials 2012 to Server 2019

As described in your guide the old Essentials server has a separate volume that contains the users redirected folders and the other ServerFolders that contains the company share.

I'm migrating from a physical host to a hyper-v VM and use ShadowProtect so can I just restore the data volume to a VHDX file that can be mounted as the same drive letter on the new host. So following your guide to recreate the shares and change the group policy to look at the shares on the new server should be just a case of changing the hostname?

Does it matter that offline files are used on the old server for re-directed folders? should that be turned off first?

So I went ahead and restored the disk and then followed the rest of the guide regarding the shares and group policy. The offline files did not impede anything. All good.
