Email Migration, stopping SBS Exchange services, Clients get password box

Hi,

I have got to the end of migrating Exchange from SBS 2011 to EX 2016, and all recipients are working correctly, and all DNS now points to the new EX2016 server.

I wanted to emulate the removal of the SBS2011 server, and stopped all Exchange * services.  Shortly after the clients promped for Username / Password, and in some cases outlook would then connect ( but would always re-prompt after closing / re-opening outlook), and a few clients would not connect, with outlook showing "Disconnected"

The "Outlook - Connection Status" in system tray, is definitely showing the correct new mail.<domain>.com server, and the DNS for mail.<domain>.com is pointing to the correct server.

Just nervous about uninstalling exchange on SBS2011 given the implications of doing this.

Any Thoughts

Chris

Did you migrate Public Folders? If the migration is done and the mailboxes are on the new server go ahead and uninstall Exchange Server 2010. Nothing to be nervous about, it will clean up your AD and make clients go to the new server quicker because there is nothing else.
