I'm cleaning up a SBS2011 server for migration to Server 2016 with Essentials role. I've got a System error 10009. DCOM was unable to communicate with TempDC.local, which was a temp DC from a swing migration years ago. Is it essential to get this cleaned up now and will it cause any issues if I do it after the migration?
Ron,
If that tempdc was not removed/demoted you need to fix this before you continue. Does it still list in AD Sites and Services?
It was removed/demoted. It does not appear in AD Sites and Services and I can't any reference in DNS. I can't find it anywhere.
I did just find this in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurretnControlSet services NTDS Parameters
Src Root Domain Srv
Value data: TEMPDC.Octagon.local
It's the only registry entry.
I think you can delete that but make a backup of that hive in the registry.
