External Access to Exchange

Hi Mariette,

I am about ready to run screaming from this migration.

I have finally the mailboxes sorted - only 2 left to go and both over 50% complete.  Life got a bit easier when I found the Move Request section in the Exchange 2010 GUI - I was using Get-Mailbox but it does not show if there is a failure of a transfer.

The internal access to email and outlook appears to be working for all staff - both sending and receiving internally and externally.  Outlook appears to have reconfigured OK and when I run the Test email auto configuration it comes back successful.

Now I am trying to setup access for external computer and phones and having issues. In step 19, when I try to add the DNS configuration, I get an error:
dns the zone cannot be created there was a server failure

I realise this is not technically part of the migration but hoping you might have some ideas here.

Not sure if this is part of the issue or not but the IT guy who first setup the server (and this was 10 years ago or so), setup the domain as dgz.com.au rather than dgz.local.  I have added a record into the forward lookup zone of dgz.com.au called mail and pointed it to the Exchagne server IP address - not sure if this will work the same?

I am also unsure about the firewall setting as I am still working with ISA.  I have changed the ISA rules for SBS Outlook, SBS OMA, SBS RWW and SBS OWA to point to mail.dgz.com.au (which via DNS is the IP address of the exchange server) but I can't get phones or tablets to connect to the server.  Are there any other changes I need to make in ISA to make this work?  The two SMTP entries point from External->Local Host and Local Host->External.  Will I need to change these

Also, will I need to change or add any settigns into the DNS entries for the actually domain name?

Sorry for being such a pain with this migration, I have taken out a Pro subscription as I really apprecaite all the help you have given me and know I am going to need extra help to get this migration completed.

Thanks
Dean
