Hi,
Do I understand correctly that RDS Gateway does not come with Server 2019 Essentials?
If this is correct using Server 2019 Essentials as an upgrade for SBS 2011 appears to be useless, where the Remote Web Workplace is used to access users internal desktops for working remotely.
Does it mean that the only solution is to pay more money and have Server 2019 Standard?
Ian.
Ian,
Microsoft wants you to use cloud services but as some clients don't want that and still want to use Windows Server 2019 Essentials you can also install RRAS and use that to connect to workstations inside your Lan with RDP. It is a bit more work and less 'slick' as it was with the Essentials Dashboard but it does the job.
In addition to this I want to make clear that even with Windows Server 2019 Standard you will not get the Essentials Experience as that has been deprecated in 2019 but you do get full blown RDS services.
Hi Mariette, thanks for the reply and the info. It's best to stay away from 2019 then by the sounds of it. For the time being at least.
As you may recall from an earlier post of mine I have 2016 Essentials to install. On that subject I have another question for you but I will create a new post for that.
Thanks again.
