migration from sbs2008 to server 2016 standard with essentials experience.
All is good on this except the implement group policy wizard fails with "group policy configuration did not succeed"
There is one system event id 7023 that in nonsensical to me. I've also looked at the dashboard log but this is also a mystery to me.
Are there / what are the likely culprits? Any direction is appreciated.
Can you check if you have a Namespace in DFSR named after your local domain?
namespace for only sysvol
There is a catch on this particular installation; New application software required making the new server available last week; all is good with this. yet, they still need access to the old server that will need to be available for the next month or possibly more.
I don't remember if there were any customizations to gp on the 2008, I doubt it. The 2008 server also has problems with wsus and #ssee. I don't plan to resolve these issues since it's days are numbered.
I took this issue to our ticketing system and connected to Don's server. I found that not all FSMO roles were moved to the new server. Strange, but this sometimes happens and after correcting this the wizard ran just fine
I would not have thought about checking on the FSMO roles. I had transferred them, at least I thought I had.
Thanks so much for the attention.
That is the benefit of doing many migrations, sometimes you see these things happening. It is was the third time I saw this in 5 years :)
