Hi There,
we are going to migrate SBS 2011 Std to Server 2016 Std and exchange server 2010 to exchange server 2016. So, we set up two servers 2016 std, one for DC and the other one for exchange 2016. Which documents should I refer to? When can i migrate exchange server? in which step?
Many Thanks
Charlie
Hi Mariette,
after upgrading Exchange 2010 SP1 to SP3, now all outlook clients cannot connect to the server. need urgent help!
What Outlook version is that? Can you use OWA?
some of them are 2016, some of them are 2013
Owa page displayed, but only allow domain administrator login.
when use client login, it says incorrect user or password.
It seems that the installation of Exchange Server 2010 SP3 caused some problems. After fixing those in a Teamviewer session with Charlie he was able to continue the migration. The solution was to copy the web.config from the OWA virtual directory from a working SBS 2011 with Exchange Server 2010 SP3 to the server that was failing. After doing this all was working again.
The two guides can be found here Migration guides for Windows Server 2012 or 2016 Essentials:
Thanks Mariette, OK i will start migrate exchange next to chapter 12. in this case, do i need export PST files from exchange 2010?
Exporting to pst files is not needed if you are going to migrate.
Thanks Again Mariette.
following question is:
in chapter 10: Join computers to new server 2016, our workstations are all windows 7 pro 32 bit (based on some special software are not compatible with 64 bit OS or higher than windows 7). will the connector work for windows 7 pro 32 bit?
Yes, as far as we know now Windows 7 is supported but remember that it is a good idea to upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as you can.
Thanks Mariette.
Yes, as soon as we finished server migration, we will do the software upgrade, then Win 10 upgrade.
It seems that there are leftovers from a previous migration from something to Exchange Server 2010. The server has multiple Exchange organizations listed and we need to clean up that first. We will continue on Teamviewer tomorrow.
