Hi,
Quick question: SBS2008 Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 - If I don't use Public Folders do I have to do step 11. Migrate Public folders ?
I have moved the user mailboxes but not Public (yet) when I start Outlook on the client it prompts for Credentials, but I think that is for the existing Public Folders that are still on the SBS2008 (as normal mailbox working OK and receiving email), but clicking on the Public Folder for that mailbox gives the can't access error. If I do not migrate them will they disappear in Outlook once Exchange 2007 removed?
Thought I better ask before proceeding to far.
Thanks
Rob
Just to be a bit clearer, my existing Exchange 2007 in SBS2008 does have Public folders enabled, I just don't use them or have any data in them.
Looking at it a bit more, my guess is that it's better to move them for now to keep everything working.
So, does Exchange 2013 (and later) still need public folders or once I am at Exch2013 (or Exch2016) only can I remove them then?
Moved and everything is OK :-)
For completeness in case anyone else comes across this post, you can migrate without the Public Folders if you don't use them.
