Hi!
I'm getting my SBS 2011 ready to migrate to Windows Server 2019.
Working through chapters 1 - 5 prior to migrating Exchange, looked at the FRS log and I have a lot of NtFrs Event ID 13508 errors.
To give some context, I have the SBS 2011 as the primary DC and a Windows Server 2012 R2 server as a secondary DC.
Everything appears to be working as it should, not experienced any apparent FRS errors in the 6 years this setup has been in place.
Should I be worried about these or will they not impact my migration to DFS?
Thanks!
Ian
Ian,
You mentioned that you see Errors. Is that correct? Should those not be warnings? Can you run 'net share' from an elevated command prompt on both Domain Controllers and check if you see a shared NetLogon and Sysvol?
Hi Mariette,
Sorry, you are correct, they are warnings, not errors! If I run net share on both Domain Controllers, I see both Netlogon and Sysvol listed.
Thanks
If you see a shared netlogon and sysvol on all domain controllers you should be fine. Just make sure you also run the other checks in the kit. If you have doubts pls comment here
Just to update this, I did a bit more reading up on this and I manually added a rule that opened up the NtFrs ports on both server firewalls.
I restarted File Replication Service on both servers 24 hours ago, since then I have had no further warnings so I think that may have been the cause of the event log entries.
You will see that warning again if one of the servers boots up. It is just warning you it cannot reach the 'other' server and that is perfectly fine. Changing Firewall settings does not help anything for this.
