Question on DFS on 2016 Server after migration

Finished migrating from SBS 2011 to 2016 Essentials completely. Follow up questions re: DFS Management - I followed your process in Chapter 12 to remove the replication folders that we created during Chapter 9.

But DFS Management on the 2016 Essentials still has references in the namespace to the two default shared Essentials folders (Company and Users) that we never used for replication purposes, plus one additional shared folder I created from the Essentials dashboard that I also was NOT going to replicate.

My question is three-fold:

(1) do I need to do anything with those entries in the DFS namespace section? Under the replication section, it only shows Domain System Volume.

(2) Do I need to leave the DFS role installed and running on the 2016 server?

(3) The three folders that were replicated still do not show backup on the 2016 Essentials dashboard. Your instructions seemed to suggest that they would show up once removed from DFS.

Thanks!

Thanks. I assumed to leave DFS running, but wanted to ask. The old server never used "redirected folders" so that was never replicated.

The three folders replicated were custom ones originally located on the old SBS 2011 dashboard. They were there on the 2016 Essentials dashboard, and of course disappeared from it when  we enabled DFS replication. However, I have rebooted the new 2016 Essentials server a couple of times last night and those three folders have not shown up yet on the dashboard.

    Thanks.

Redirected Folders are part of the Essentials Experience installation and should not be removed or deleted. A possible cause that the folders do not show up in the Dashboard is that the old counterparts (from the old server) are still in the set included under Namespace \\ServerName\SharedFolders\FolderName. Let me know if this still is an issue and I will fix it on Teamviewer for you.

Thanks. I was just letting you know that redirected folders were NOT used on the old server, and I did NOT remove or do anything with redirected folders on the new server. As to the other folders that were replicated, yes they were removed from the DFS namespace. I have screenshots, or if you want to remote in tomorrow, we can arrange that. Thanks. I have to leave for the rest of today (Sunday) to a meeting. Cheers.

OK, let us connect tomorrow and use Teamviewer to share screens. Call me when you are in the office.

Mariette, how about 8am EST, which would be 14:00 (2pm) your time? I can do it a bit later, but will need to leave to go to the airport by 11am (17:00 your time)
