Remove-WindowsFeature ADDS-Domain-Controller,DNS - any idea how long this should take on an SBS 2011 Std.?

Working with the SBS 2011 Std - > Windows 2019 Essentials migration documentation.

in Chapter 17, I demoted the old server (the old server did spend 10 - 15 min on the 'checking if active directory domain services binaries are installed' screen).

Rebooted

then in the elevated PS window, the import-module servermanager command which was quick,

then the Remove-WindowsFeature ADDS-Domain-Controller,DNS

That was 4? hours ago.  The cursor keeps blinking on the next line.  The machine is NOT frozen - I can do other things with it.

Some things I noticed:

in task manager:

Trustedinstaller.exe has a CPU % of 12 - 13 (it does change every few seconds).  And 1GB RAM
dns.exe is listed in processes.  0% CPU, 307,000K memory

event logs -

there are a bunch of errors, seconds apart, 3 hours ago about an exchange module - kerbauth.dll failed to start
the last entry in Active directory web services was before the reboot (not sure if it was during  or before dcpromo?) - ADWS could not change its advertising state
The last entry in DNSServer is the DNS server started (after the reboot).

Any thoughts?

Part of me posting this is that if this is like most of my situations, as soon as I finish typing this, the command will finish. : )
