Routing fax receipts to Office365 email account

Hello, I have a question regarding the configuration necessary for Windows Fax Service delivery receipts to an Office365 email address.  Here's my scenario:

  • Home office
  • Widows Server 2019 Standard version 1809
  • Windows Server Essentials Experience 2016 (shout out to TheOfficeMaven.com)
  • No Azure AD integration
  • Email hosted on Office 365
  • Windows Fax Service Manager version 10.0.0
  • Standard issue U.S. Robotics V.92 USB Modem
I receive all incoming faxes successfully.  However, email routing of the fax delivery receipts to my Office 365 email address fails with the following event IDs: 32078, 32083, and 32089.  In a nutshell, my SMTP server configuration is incorrect.  I found the following articles, but I haven't been able to get my SMTP email notifications configured properly:
I'm fairly certain that the problem has to do with my authentication, since my domain is not connected to Azure AD.  However, I don't know how to fix it.  I've tried both Basic and Integrated Windows Authentication.

Has anyone run across this issue (routing fax delivery notifications to their Office 365 email address) and been able to resolve it?  I'd love any feedback you can provide.

Best regards.

Thank you for the quick solution!  The document you referenced above is one of the documents I'd already found; however, I'd only tried options 1 and 2, so I'll give option number 3 a shot and see if that works.

I may have problems with method (2), above, because I inadvertently left out a detail: since I'm in a home office, I'm running a DDNS client.  I'm not sure if an FQDN is supported by the IP4 SPF record option.

Hopefully, method (1) will work; otherwise, I'm back to square one.  I'll update the thread with my results.
