SBS2011 migration to new 2016 machines

Im using SBS2011 Premium version. One server is works as main server + Exchange, second is SQL and DC backup. I already purchased new machine and two WS 2016 licenses + Exchange 2016. Im gong to use new machine to migrate SBS2011 to WS2016 and Exchange2016. On second server machine with SQL after migration Im going to install from scratch WS 2016 and SQL Express.  I have no experience in virtualization. From what point of installation your guide starts? Should I have installed WS 2016 first or your guide cover installation and virtualization of server as well?

Thank you for quick answer. According to Microsoft requirements Exchange Server should not be installed on DC, so I expect that migration guide show how to install DC on one instance of WS2016 and Exchange on another one. That's why I asked about virtualization. Am I right about installation of DC and file server and Exchange on virtual machines of the same physical server machine?

Your assumption is correct. Your environment will be like this:

    Hyper-V Host running Windows Server 2016 + Hyper-V role

    1. VM1: DC1 = ADDS, DNS and possibly DHCP and File Server Shares
    2. VM2: EX2016 = Member Server to your domain with Exchange Server 2016

Thank you for clarification. Forgot to ask - migration cover server role and shared files only right? All programs must be reinstalled on new server? What about antivirus and firewall software? Should it be uninstalled before migration? Can I choice items to not be migrated? like WSUS f.e?

What other programs do you have? Antivirus and firewall software is included in Windows Server 2016, there is no need for third-party solutions anymore.

If you currently have a third party antivirus + firewall solution make sure the firewall does not block traffic from and to your new Domain Controller and the Exchange Server. I have seen third party solutions cause issues during the migration.

WSUS is not migrated from any of the SBS migration kits we have. The reason for this is that most customers don't need WSUS anymore for bandwidth saving reasons, see Windows Update Delivery Optimization: FAQ. If you need WSUS for other reasons it is a good idea to put that on another VM
