We are having major issues with the sbs2011 standard gpo for folder redirection we have the exclusive rights ticked and we are setting up a new 2019 server ready to replicate all domain information. can anyone suggest as easy way of replicating this data keeping all security rights in tact.
are there any scripts available or automated tools that we could use.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hello Graham,
The folders created when a user logs in to a workstation when the default Folder Redirection policy is turned are Creator/Owner permissions only and that is the user. This is default behavior and it should not prevent migration as we describe in chapter 13 of How to migrate SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2019 Standard, Datacenter or Essentials. If you have a need to modify permission on the redirected folders the only supported way is How the administrator can gain access to redirected folders owned by domain users and which are created by a policy using ‘grant the user exclusive rights’. Remember that each time a user creates a file or folder you need to run the script again to add your account to the permitted users.
