Security Groups Do Not Appear on Essentials Dashboard.

Hello

I'm using the guide: How to migrate from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2016 (Essentials)

I'm at the Step: Enable folder redirection on the Windows Server 2016 Essentials and clean up old SBS 2011 group policies

Getting to know the new Dashboard, I noticed all my users showed up, but none of the Groups. On the SBS 2011 server Dashboard,  there are both E-Mail Distribution Groups and Security Groups listed.  The Security Groups are basically used to control who has access to which Shared Folders.

None of these Groups Appear on the Server 2016 Essentials Role Dashboard.

In a Technet forum I found one link:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/6020fa87-db29-4948-97f2-abdbf2d8b220/domain-users-groups-not-visible-on-essentials-experience-server?forum=winserver8setup

The answer was; "tip: add security group to WseManagedGroups Group  and refresh."

Looking for the WseManagedGroups using Active Directory Users and Computers, I found this group under:

Lawfirm.local - MyBusiness - Users - SBSUsers

The scope at this level does not allow me to add the Groups that were present in the SBS 2011 dashboard, they were created at:

lawfirm.local - MyBusiness-Computers-Groups.

My question is:  Is this where these 10 new Wse* secuirity groups belong - in a normal migration? Or is this another weird deal with my setup?

Yes, sometimes those old security groups don't play nice with the new way things are organized on the Dashboard. Obviously, those old settings still work but do not show up on the dashboard. You can still manage them from ADUC.

Is it safe to move the new security groups WSE* down to lawfirm.local-MyBusiness-Security Groups?

This is where the old SBS * security groups reside.

Matt, did you ever get a resolution to this issue?  I'm looking at the same problem.

We purchased the Migration package for SBS 2011 -> 2016 and have about a dozen Groups to migrate including multi-tier values. We don't understand which policy name to enter at the Prompt for User or Group Name. How do we discriminate Policy at the prompt?  Thanks
