I redid the folders and working fine. On Monday 30 April received the following from server:
Critical Alerts and Warnings
Critical 1)
One or more pre-defined server folders are missing
Alert details: Certain Server Folders related tasks may fail until the pre-defined folders are restored: Folder Redirection File History Backups Users Company

This time I did a Restart on the Server. Once re-booted the folders were no longer missing.
Have not been able to find any documentation for this error.
It is a known issue and a solution is here Server folders in the Essentials dashboard show missing
I have the same issue on new installation of Essentials 2016. Followed the advice of the linked tutorial, and could see the results of restarting the service (i.e., the list of Shares in Dashboard was refreshed), but there was no change... the shares are still listed as "Missing". Any other suggestions?
I realize this thread is 3+ years old, but I continually have this issue. The suggestion to restart the storage service does nothing. The only "solution" is a restart. The problem will reappear within a week. Frustrating.
Any other insights?
