Hi,
i'm looking for an alternative for essentials. mostly beacause i wan't clients to use rdp more securely than just opening port 3389.
but i'm stuck on step one
in elevated PS i copy/paste " Add-WindowsFeature -Name RDS-Gateway -IncludeAllSubFeature –IncludeManagementTools"
immediately getting this error:
s not found. At line:1 char:1 + Add-WindowsFeature -Name RDS-Gateway -IncludeAllSubFeature –IncludeMa ... + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (RDS-Gateway:String) [Install-WindowsFeature], Exception + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NameDoesNotExist,Microsoft.Windows.ServerManager.Commands.AddWindowsFeatureCommand
just a little push in the right direction will do...
Leo,
It looks like you also copied a space in front of Add-WindowsFeature. Can you check if that is the case?
Hi Mariette,
thanks for your reply,
there's no space , i tried on a different server and the script started running immediately.
the server is in production now but it would be nice if i can enable this feature.
"RDS-Gateway . The name is not found" does this mean that this script wasn't able to create this name?
it is a VM on a new dell server.
Unfortunately this RDS Gateway role is not available in Windows Server 2019 Essentials SKU. You need Standard for this.
I have updated How to setup RDS Gateway as a replacement for ‘Access Anywhere’ or 'Remote Web Workplace' with extra text on this issue. There is another solution for you that will work and that is SSTP VPN. Very easy to use and to setup. I will have a guide later
so weird that essentials loses every worth for small business...
thanks for this answer, i'm looking forward to this guide!
