Hello All:
I have stared the process of renaming my active diretcory. I have go to the point where I am attempting to rename the directory and I keep getting an error. I am attaching screenshots of the command that I entered, the syntax for that command, see example and my system page for your review. Can someone tell me how to change the domain name. I can tell you that I now see the new domain name being displayed. Any assistance would be extremely appreciated and thanks in advance for any and all responses
What tutorial are you using?
Hi,
I am using the How to rename an Active Directory domain name of a Windows Server 2012 R2 with the Essentials Experience role installed,
Allen
You need to check carefully what you type because it is wrong. In chapter 4 (Use netdom utility to rename the Active Directory Domain Controller) we add the new domain name to the name of the DC. The correct command is like this:
netdom computername server01.adatum.local /add: server01.contoso.local
I do not see any 'computername' in your command. In the above example the hostname of the DC is 'server01'
Attached is a screenshot of the command that I entered, if you look at the System page, you will see that the computer name is AESTONE, the domain name is stone-and-stone.local, then check the screenshot for the command that I entered, see the result, Allen
Pls, run
netdom computername aestone.stone-and-stone.local /add:aestone.stoneandstone1.com
Before you run this read it carefully so there are no typos.
Hi:
I tried that command and got the following message, see screenshot, Allen
I ran the DNS test as directed and attached is the results, it still shows the DC as stone-and-stone and not stoneandstone1.com, please help me fix this problem, thank, Allen
