Hi,
When I bought the Server Essentials 2016 Licence it came with a free upgrade to Server Essentials 2019.
As I rely on the Experience Role and easy to use dashboard I was wondering can this be kept in the 2019 version as we are simply upgrading. I've seen online this is possible but its a bit far out of what I feel confident doing and wondered do you do a "kit" that covers this or an easy to do guide.
Thanks,
Mick
I have written a free guide for Windows Server 2012R2 to Windows Server 2016, see In-place upgrade of Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 to Windows Server Essentials 2016 on the same hardware. You will see that in place upgrades of Domain Controllers are not the best way of doing things.
There is no guarantee that the above tutorial works for your scenario and in place upgrades of Domain Controllers are not supported by Microsoft. In addition to this you should understand that the Essentials Experience role is no longer included in Windows Server 2019 and therefor it can cause problems running on Windows Server 2019.
