Use a .uk TLD with Windows Server Essentials 2016 RWA wizard

Hi All,

New to servers and the forum.

I have my own domain thewillings.uk and I would like to use this as the main default web address on my newly installed WSE2016 server.  This would also translate to Remote Web Access (RWA) to be https://rem.thewillings.uk/remote when I setup RWA.

However, when i fire up the setup RWA wizard it tells me the TLD is not valid.  Is there some way I can use another method to set the domain to thewillings.uk and then continue with the wizard to setup the SSL etc?

Surely I cant be the only one hosting a .uk domain when ICANN says its the 4th largest country TLD in use?

I have never seen this before. Can you record a video of what you do and upload to screencast.com or youtube?

Apologies no screen capture device and I cant upload an image for some reason.

Basically the tool tip says 'the domain name extension is invalid'.

If I change it to .co.uk it will allow me to proceed to next step but then the domain name is hard coded and I cant change it and would be wrong.

This is where you can start Microsoft Support but if you ask me if this ever will be solved I will tell it will not be fixed. Microsoft has abandoned the Essentials Experience role and bugs from the past took a year before they got fixed.

    Get another domain name?

I guess so but I've had this one for the family for a few years and it seems a shame to give it up.

Is there no manual way to setup the RWA?  Essentials has been amended in 2019 version so there's less wizards.  I wonder if this can be done without that wizard....?

I've taken an image of my server and I'm going to go with the microsoft provided domain.remotewebaccess.com for now. If I'm not happy with that then I may have to upgrade to 2019 and see if that does it for me as I suspect it will.  Just depends if I get annoyed with not having the webpage at thewillings.uk

If anyone lands here looking for the solution, it's not much of one to know it cant be done.   Don't get me wrong I'm still v grateful to Mariette.

Solution - go with the MS built in rwa.com  domain

    Thanks again @Mariete

That Microsoft solution with the remotewebaccess.com URL is also not without problems.
