Windows Server 2016 Essentials Configuration Wizard Failed

Hello,

I thought I would reach out and ask for assistance in setting up my Essentials 2016. The Configuration Wizard fails on a fresh install. I get the following in the ERROR.log - FATAL: ConfigureCATask:

Any assistance is welcome. Cheers.

Hi, sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Firstly there are no 7041 errors in the System log but there does exist a MediaAdmin$ user so I added it to the local security policy as shown in the article to no avail. The wizard still fails.

Is there any benefit to reinstalling the server? It is a fresh build and easily reinstalled.

What did I do wrong? What steps would I need to do before running the wizard?

Why can't MS anticipate this and fix the issue? If this is required then they should have built it into their powershell scripts that are launched with the wizard no?

Any guidance is appreciated. My client wants me to get back to this ASAP. I need to deploy the server this week.

Cheers and thanks again.

Ronald,

You may want to open a support ticket here https://server-essentials.com/support/premier-support. Reinstalling the server is an expensive way of fixing an issue. Can we have a look together on this?

Sure thing but I am at clients all day every day. I have a full time mandate at another client right now. This is a small contract I have with a friend so I do it after hours. I am in Canada so EST timezone. I suspect the timezone issue would be a problem for you.

Is there any logfile you wish to see to give you more insight? My client will not want to pay for support for a product that should work out of the box and I agree with him. It's a new server so I can blow it away at a moments notice. Nothing has been done farther than trying to get the bloody config wizard to complete. Eventually it will be a terminal server running a specific application for 2 people concurrently.

That error you see is caused by a reinstall of the Essentials Experience role IMHO. What do you mean by 'Eventually it will be a terminal server running a specific application for 2 people concurrently'? You should never use the server as a workstation and most certainly not use it as a host for an application used through RDP for normal users.
