Hi everyone,
I'm new to servers and I'm having issues with the VPN. I can login remotely to a PC using RDP from anywhere, but the VPN just dosent work and I get an "Error 800" message? Port 1723 has been opened and checked and I have also created the domain name used for Anywhere Access.
Ive tried lots of things but nothing has yet worked and the client is on my case.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mick
Mick,
Port 1723 is for PPtP and that is no longer used on a Windows Server Essentials server. The only port that needs to be opened is port 443. Error 800 means that something blocking connection to your server. How do you try to connect to the server?
The Windows server essentials connector is installed. On the client I switch to another network (my hotspot on my phone) and on the lock screen I switch to another user. I then click on the the icon next to network where it takes me to the login screen for vpn access. It shows the domain “example.remotewebaccess.com” then I input my credentials and it just hangs, then I get the 800 error.
Can you reboot that client and make sure it is not connected to your Lan and then connect it to your other network and try again? What IP address do you get when you ping example.remotewebaccess.com from that client that is NOT connected to your Lan? Is it the public IP address of your Internet connection at the WSE2016?
I’m on a course until Friday so can we pick this back up then? So you want me to ping example.remotewebaccess.com while connected to my other network (my phone). Is that correct?
I can access any a client from home by going to example.remotewebaccess.com. I then sign in to the web portal and download the RDP file. I then double click it and I’m in to the client which works fine, it’s just the VPN side of things. Thanks for you help with this.
Are you free to help?
All I want to do is to be able to access the shared folders when I'm way from the office?
