Hello,
We have two servers in separate locations that run Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 for their operating system.
We have applied many fully working, trouble-free Windows updates to these servers over the years (WSE 2012 R2). However, now both of them fail when trying to process the "2023-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based systems (KB5022352)."
We have attempted to install the problem update file multiple times, but in every case it is flagged in Update History with a status of "failed." Also, when this update begins to run it indicates that no progress is made (zero KB total, zero percentage complete).
Can anyone offer suggestions that might resolve this persistent problem? We are concerned that needed security patches in WSE 2012 R2 are not being installed on the servers.
Thanks.
Thanks for your suggestion. One of the two WSE2012 R2 servers has the Desktop Experience feature enabled (box is checked). The other WSE 2012 R2 server does NOT have the box checked (it is blank). Does the checked Desktop Experience box indicate that this feature is implemented and installed in the Server Manager? Or is there a different way to install or uninstall the Desktop Experience?
Check of the Desktop Experience feature has been installed. If so, uninstall it reboot and run Windows Update again.
