Hello,
We have been following your migration guide and they have been extremely helpful.
With one of the last migrations to WSE2016 for an interstate client, after completing all the steps successfully (without error) and decommissioning SBS we have experienced ..."The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship" when trying to log into any workstation.
Furthermore, the administrative account being used on SBS no longer worked, in fact, it appeared to have been removed from AD. The account appears in the WSE Dashboard under Users but nowhere to be seen in ADUC.
Is the above behaviour expected?
Is there any quick fix, we have 52 workstations impacted - we'd like to avoid manually disconnecting and rejoining the domain?
Regards, Joe (Sydney, Australia)
Hello Joe,
There are two things to check:
Hi Mariette, both were checked, no time difference and profile was set to domain.
We'll have to put this down to a migration mystery.
Thanks for your help.
This has nothing to do with the migration but it must be resolved to prevent more issues.
Hi Mariette, your prediction was correct. More issues have occurred. The Connect feature wouldn't work, however devices and user were added to AD when joining the domain, the functionality of the WSE dashboard was lost, Users don't display, Devices doesn't function. Long story short, this was thrown to MS support. After checking logs and analysing the limiited number of reported errors their recommendation is to remove computers from the domain and reinstall the Experience Role.
The customer runs two virtual servers (WSE 2016 & Win2019 Std running SQL) in a small office of 4 computers. Server are in production.
In your experience, have you ever had to do this, reinstall the Role? Do you know the impact to reinstalling the Experience Role?
