Since lockdown we have been using the VPN for home workers. Recently it's stopped working alltogether ( i expect due to a microsoft update ) Usually we repair the VPN from the Server essentials dashboard and it starts working again
This is now broken, no reboot or repair has worked. The VPN is configured for SSTP. The connection is fine, the error is certificate based which is where i get stuck.
The error being as per title .. "The certificte's CN name does not match the passed value"
as it is WSE2016 there is no routing and remote access applet ( that i'm aware of)
Any way of resolving this problem ?
ok , so solved my own problem. Turns out the website address we have for our VPN doesn't pass the validation within the dashboard auto configuration so had to use a microsoft domain (remotewebaccess.com) This is where the problem arose as the certificate was issued for the MS one and not our site.
We have to use a purchased certificate and edit the bindings for the default website.
Easy when you remember stuff from 3 yrs ago !
