Hi all,
I am running the above without any issues but because I have changed my firewall to PFSense, I have hit a snag.
So, at the moment my PFSense firewall is using "DHCP RELAY".
Now you cannot use "DHCP SERVER" on the PFSense box if you are using DHCP Relay because I suspect there would be some conflicts as to whom is doing what (The Server OR the PFSense Box)
Because I want to install some isolated networks into the PFSense box and give them a totally different IP address range then I need to use "DHCP SERVER" mode instead.
My plan is to Stop the DHCP Service on the Server and start it on the PFSense box with the same network address ranges to keep it nice and easy.
If all works well then I can remove the DHCP Server Role from off the server.
Does anybody have any suggestions or have I missed anything in my logic here ?
I do use Remote Desktop from my home to my office so presume there will be some additional work to get this working again perhaps ?
Hello Simon,
You can easily uninstall the DHCP role from the Essentials server but you must make sure the PFsense DHCP role also sets DNS on the clients to point to the Essentials server.
If you are using VPN from the Essentials dashboard more work is needed.
