Error in your web server settings on Windows Server 2016 Essentials

Hi All

I new to this Windows Server 2016 Essentials.  I had, Windows Home Server 2011 installed, but Microsoft stopped supporting this version and my Remote Web Access stopped working due to them canceling my domain address.

Anycase, I just installed Windows Server 2016 Essentials, with much headache.  Nothing was documented, about all of the problems that would be entailed just installing it.  Such as, the install process would stall at 18% and would go no further, after days of searching the web, I found the answer that a service would need to be restarted that apparently shuts off during the install process.  Needless, to say this was not my only problem, I spent about two weeks working to get this software installed and working.  I making headway, but I stuck on this problem.

This is a clean install, just began trying to setup the Anywhere Access, I manage to fix the problem of "There is a error in your remote desktop services setting" by reading this forum.  But, the problem that I am having that has me stumped is I now have the "There is an error in your web server settings.  There is a problem with your web server setting that cannot be repaired automatically.  Please contact product support".  I attempted all of the suggestions that I found on this forum, concerning this problem, without any luck.  However, One suggesting was to look at the logs, which I did, but its all greek to me.  I saw nothing that would point to the problem, but nothing in the log made any sense to me.  I also, not sure what services need to be running,  Everytime that I restart the server, I have to manually go into services and start most of them, even though I have them set on automatic.  So, it possible that I do not have the correct service started.

Any help would be appreciated in fixing this problem.

Thanks Again

William

Hi All

I think, I somewhat fixed the problem.  I no longer getting the error message and the Anywhere Wizard completed without any errors.  However, I believe that something is still wrong.  I tried going to my remote address of https://warpfile.remoteweb.access.com and I get a Windows Server screen that states Internet Information Services and has a box with "Welcome" on the screen in English then approximately twenty one other boxes on the screen with a several foreign languages.  If, I click on the "Welcome" box I am apparently sent to a Microsoft website IIs Deployment and it has a sign in link that I tried to click and enter my username and password, but I get the error message of "Invalid Username or Password".  I thinking that I being redirected to a Microsoft Website and not my own server.

Anybody, have any ideas.  If it like Windows Home Server 2011, then I would get a sign-in screen and I would also have been prompted for installation of an Active-X control.  Neither of these things occurred and I was using Internet Explorer to access the website.  On Windows Home Server 2011 it was requirement that you log onto you remote web access page using Internet Explorer.

I will play around with it some more, in the morning.  In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks Again

William
