Migration sbs2008 / exchange 2013 .. new outlook profiles needed ?

Hi - i've been migrating away from sbs2008 in a test setup - it seems i have to recreate all my users outlook profiles after moving to exchange 2013.

Is there anyway around this ?

Martin,

No, that should not be needed. You probably did something wrong in your DNS records. As that is your test setup you probably did not create the correct DNS records for autodiscover in public DNS. Those are crucial for Outlook to work correct.

Thanks ! You could absolutely be right. I will do the migration and report back :)

Thanks !

I do have one more stupid question.

In the guide "Migrate Exchange Server 2007 from SBS 2008 to a new Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2", it's a bit unclear which external hostname the new exchange 2013 should have.

I presume for everything to work it should have the same external hostname as the older exchange 2007 ? - in your example both the exchange 2007 and 2013 should have the external hostname "mail.server-essentials.net" ?

It does not really matter what the external hostname will be for your new server as long as you have a DNS record in public DNS and you have that host name on your certificate.
