Server 2016 Error

Good Morning,

We have been following your steps from migrating SBS2008 to Server 2016 Essentials (Which are excellent steps!) and are receiving the following error intermittently when clicking on server manager or other links:

c:\windows\system32\xxx.exe

The stub received bad data

Would you possibly have any ideas that may be causing this? Any help is appreciated and thanks!!!

Mariette,

Thanks again for your replies. We are noticing other issues as well. Do you have some time that you could take an hour and look over the event viewer on this server? We'd like some assistance.  The following is an error from the GPO settings:

'The Permissions for this GPO in the SYSVOL folder are inconsistent with those in Active Directory. It is recommended that these permissions be consistent. To change the SYSVOL permissions to those in Active Directory, click OK.'

Another option is to run Windows Update and install all updates. What drivers are installed? Did you install any custom drivers? What video adapter does that server have?

Mariette,

Thanks for your reply. We are at the start of the section where data is replicated. That's why we stopped to investigate the error. I tried the sfc/scan now steps already and it didn't help.

Hello Brent, at what stage are you now? I have not seen this before and a quick search told me that you could run sfc /scannow but be careful with that.
