WSE2016 prompts to complete configuration wizard after every reboot

Greetings,

I performed an in-place upgrade from WSE2012 R2 to WSE2016 using the following:

Thank you!

Now - after each reboot for whatever reason - I get the 'complete the configuration' wizard.  I also have to start the WSE services - Management, Backup and Health Monitoring - after every restart as well.  Is there any way to correct this?  And was there a step in the preparation for the in-place upgrade that I need to 'undo'?

Thanks in advance.

The article start with a warning for a good reason and you have found one. I will try to come up with a solution

This method may work for you or it does not work. It is your decision to use this tutorial. We do not accept any responsibility for the outcome of an inplace upgrade of your Domain Controller. Open regedit and find Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and search for EssentialsRoleConfigWizard and delete it. Reboot the server.

If the WSE services do not start set them to Auto Start and reboot again.
