There is an error in your remote desktop services settings when you run the Repair Access wizard

When you run the Repair Anywhere Access wizard you may get ‘There is an error in your Remote Desktop Services settings. You will also see in the Dashboard.log in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs the following error:

ConnectivityCenter: Suggestion: There is an issue with your Remote Desktop Services settings that cannot be automatically repaired. Please contact Product Support.
ConnectivityCenter: Overall status: Error

The result is the error you see in the screenshot below.

Here is how we fix that.

  1. From an elevated Powershell prompt type Install-WindowsFeature RSAT-RDS-Gateway. On a slow server, this can take a few minutes to complete.
    Install-WindowsFeature RSAT-RDS-Gateway

  2. Once this has been completed you see this

  3. From Administrative Tools start Remote Desktop Gateway Manager

  4. RD Gateway Server is complaining that ‘something’ is not good.

  5. Right-click as in the screenshot and choose Properties.

  6. Choose tab SSL certificate and click Import Certificate’.

  7. Choose the certificate issued to remote.domain.com and click Import.

  8. It should now show your remote.domain.com certificate as shown in the screenshot.

  9. Run the Repair Anywhere Access wizard again and now it should complete without any issues.
