Export mailboxes from Exchange Server 2010 to pst files

Export mailboxes from Exchange Server 2010 to pst files

Now that Office 365 has a new way of migrating mailboxes from an on-premise Exchange Server 2010 like in our good old SBS 2011 it is time to export all mailboxes to pst files that later can be imported in Office 365. Making email archive migration easier with the Office 365 Import Service does seem to make it relatively easy for smaller organizations to move email into the cloud. Other methods are described in How to migrate Exchange Server 2010 from SBS 2011 to a new Exchange Server 2016 on Windows Server 2016 for an on-premise Exchange Server 2010 or How to do a cutover migration from Exchange Server 2010 on a SBS 2011 Standard to Office 365 if you want to move to Office 365 in a more sophisticated way.

Exporting and importing pst files is really a method you should only do with less than 5 mailboxes. This guide describes how to export email to a pst file.
