Set up Anywhere Access wizard completed with errors, VPN was not configured successfully By Mariette Knap dashboard, vpn, access anywhere This problem can occur on a Windows Server Essentials 2016 installation that was a migration from an older SBS version. When you run the Set up Anywhere Access wizard the VPN part was not configured successfully. The reason for this is that the Windows Internal Database was not installed and because of that the installation of Remote Access, Direct Access and VPN failed also because it depends on the WID. Here is how you fix that. Open Group Policy Management and add SERVICE to ‘Logon as a Service’ and check ‘Define these policy settings’ in the Default Domain Controllers Policy. After doing this run gpupdate from an elevated command prompt. Rerun the Access Anywhere wizard and it will complete without the previous VPN error. The error you see in the screenshot has to do with my Firewall blocking access, not relevant to this issue
