Need to restore Corrupted Windows Server 2016 Essentials files and have no backup!

I just installed Windows Server 2016 Essentials to replace my Windows Server 2012 R2. I know this is a no longer supported product by Microsoft, but I use this server to back-up my home computers.

After the installation and applying updates, I began to get an error in my Health Monitor -

Computer monitoring error

Occurrences
ServerName 2/22/2023 4:54 PM                   **ServerName substituted for my Server's real name **
Details
Can only partially assess the health of this computer. The failing components are: MicrosoftSecurity!OnlineServicesPackageUpdate

Resolution
1. An error was encountered with the last health assessment.

2. Health assessment will be reattempted at the next scheduled time.

3. For more information, click the Get more information link.

I have seen that I need to replace these two files listed below from a backup. Unfortunately, I do not have a backup from my initial installation.

The files are:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\Cloud\OnlineServicesConfigFile-AU.xml
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\Cloud\OnlineServicesConfigLanguageResourceFile-EN-AU.xml

Can anyone help me obtain uncorrupted copies of these files please?

Andy,

Not sure I understand what you did that caused the problem. You mentioned you have have a Windows Server 2012 R2 and you want to replace that with WSE 2016 but how did you do that?

Thank you for answering me!

I am sorry I was not clear when I posted my question.  Let me try to explain better.

I have just done a fresh install of Windows Server 2016 Essentials. After I ran through the setup and applying all of the required Microsoft updates via Windows Update, I began to experience an issue with the health assessment. I researched this issue online and found a post on the Microsoft Community site where the solution to fix the issue was to replace the two files I mentioned in my original post from a backup. (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/545944/ws2016e-computer-monitoring-errors

The files are:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\Cloud\OnlineServicesConfigFile-AU.xml
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\Cloud\OnlineServicesConfigLanguageResourceFile-EN-AU.xml

Since I ran Windows Update prior to configuring any sort of backup, I no longer have the original non corrupted files. I really do not want to go back and reinstall to get copies of the files. I have already configured all my PC's, added my programs, and set up Storage Spaces so it would be a two-day task to redo the install.

I was hoping someone would have copies of the files so I could avoid the reinstall. I purchased an OEM Windows Server 2016 License, so I have a legal copy of Windows Server 2016 Essentials.

Can you help me? I really appreciate it!!

Best,

Andy Vabulas

I also found this related post on Server Essentials! This post talks about the fix to restore the files I am seeking.

https://server-essentials.com/community/answers/wse2016-dashboard-services-microsoft-cloud-services-intergration-swirling

I am hopeful that I might be able to get these files so I can restore them.

Thank you for your help.

Andy
