Step 18 states '...at the end, you must see Synced.' Does this mean I'm supposed to wait for a 'Synced' status before executing step 19?: Set-OrganizationConfig -PublicFoldersLockedForMigration: $true I _did_ execute step 19 while it was in the 'Syncing' status, and I have NOT moved to step 20. Please clarify if I am supposed to wait for a 'Synced' status before steps 19, 20, and 21.
Hi Mariette, Unfortunately, we have a client SBS2011 migration (not the one we were just working on this morning) where SharePoint got missed for migrating the data off, and the SBS was demoted, and now Companyweb no longer works. We _do_ have the SharePoint database on a full version of SQL on a member server, and have access to it with SQL Mgmt Studio. Do you have any pointers on what we should be considering for gaining access to the CompanyWeb site so we can extract the data? Thank you, David
Hi Mariette, I have 4 new messages in a Relay queue on Exchange 2016, and the properties of these messages all show the recipients as follows. This is for email sent to support@digivie.com, which is a mail-enabled Public Folder, and it looks like this PF is still getting pointed back to our Exchange 2010. Below are the properties of one of the messages. I _am_ able to successfully send to support@digivie.com internally, so it appears only messages that come in from an external source are getting stuck in the queue that points back to the ...
I have migrated from exchange 2010 to exchange 2016. In Exchange Admin Center there is an old System Mailbox(xxxx) which points to the old Server (found under normal mailbox display). When i try to delete this mailbox i get an error from AD INSUFF_ACCESS_RIGHTS. how can i delete the old mailbox. New ones are generated i have checked on the new exchange server.
We have migrated all user mailboxes to a new server on a different public IP (2010 at the office, and 2016 at the DC), and we have a new FQDN for 2016. Do I just create a new send connector for 2016 with the new fqdn in the scoping dialog? I didn't see anything about send connectors in the migration guide? Thanks, David
Migrating SBS/Exchange 2010 to 2016, and now at the Public Folder chapter. Getting the following error, and preliminary Googling hasn't found any answers. Is there something I need to install for PowerShell to work with this command? Thank you! Only just noticed this, after a year migrated! COVID-19 is driving everyone home! This PC is used with an application for accounts which cannot be connected remotely. I come to allow the user to access the PC through RWA from home, and it does not appear in the dashboard devices list. 'Active Directory Users and Computers' lists it, along with other computers. However, only the computers with a description of 'owner:TRINITY\CabinoNet machine:DESKTOP-1VI6SMI' and similar appear in the dashboard devices list. How do I add the PC to DEVICES? 'Description' seems to be a narrative field. ...
I am running a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials and the dashboard is blank not showing users or devices. I have tried starting the Windows Server Essementals Management service but it keeps giving me an error 1067 when trying to start. I made sure the permissions were log on as system account ,i have tried renamed devicesinfo.xml to the .bak file and i tried renaming the healthreport folder. nothing system be working. i am not running windows server backup on the server so that delete backup fix is not gonna work here either. any suggestions?
The issue: On Windows 2016 Server with "Essentials Experience Role" installed, the script to configure Anywhere Access fails with error: "VPN was not configured successfully" . I think I have narrowed it down as follow: The "Diagnostic Service Host service failed to start". Tried everything to fix this, and running out of ideas on how to fix this. Any suggestions? The background: I used the instructions " How to migrate SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2016 Standard or Datacenter " to set up the new server ...
I backed up shares registry and edited out things I didn't need but on import they are binary how can I fix this?
when I originally migrated from on-site exchange I migrated my data from my server to a new office 365 account. Unfortunately I found out a year later that I had set up the account in Panama (i'm in the US) When I auto filled the form it must have taken PA which is my state and filled in Panama (argh) I even called them and said at the time "hey its not taking my phone number, its asking for a different format". Anyhow, we're using office 365 in many more ways so I now need to migrate ...
SBS2011 migrated to Server 2016 Essentials One of the users connects to a member server via RDP. That particular user has no client machine connected to the domain. Now after the final steps of the migration he gets problems when connecting to the member server (2012 R2) via RDP. After logging in successfully he is asked to "Enter your credentials to connect to: OLDSBS2011". Since that server is no longer part of the domain it causes problems...What could be causing this?
I have followed the instructions which are very good I have just 2 problems activating group policy fails on the new server and Demoting the SBS2003 server fails saying it cannot find or connect to a domain controller.
Hi, I migrated from sbs2011 to 2019 standard with teh migration guide which went awesome! everything works accept internet is slow. on the server2019 the lan icon says "no internet" internet works but is slow. i removed al the pointers to the old sbs2011 on the workstations the lan icon is ok. settings on server are: ipv6 disable or enable makes no difference. Hi, can i add an demoted sbs2011 to the domain again? i have to install new sql server but i don't have license info until wednesday. sql is stil working on the old sbs2011 but users can not login because there is no domain connection.
Please confirm it is ok to remove the following records (SBS 2011 server has been removed) or do I point the IP of these records to the new WSE2016 server? sites and _sites folder companyweb connect SBSConnectComputer SharepointSMTPServer
Before I found your site, I followed a similar procedure for this migration. I got that to the point where there is replication between the SBS 2011 and Server 2016 Standard however Folder Redirection was not replicating. Since I need the Folder Redirection and it was not working, I purchased your procedure. I am now going through your procedure without rebuilding another 2016 Standard and have hit Chapter 5 where it talks about removing CSE policy and Client Agent. Since replication is working between the two, both CSE Policy and Client agent are present in the GPO on ...
Do you have a procedure to migrate SBS 2011 Public Folders to Exchange 365 Online.
Hi, I'm migrating from SBS2011 STD to Windows 2019 STD and have successfully exported/imported the printers to the new server. On the old SBS2011 I had my 3 x Ricoh printers NOT set up using a GPO as assumed in the migration guide on Step 15 " We assume that you have deployed printers on the old server according to How to deploy and install printers using group policies. " I realise that there is a guide on this website about deploying printers using a GPO but at the moment ...
Hi! First attempt to run setup.com /mode:uninstall gave an error message that "Windows SBS Console" was open. Closed the console and tried a second time. New error message that "DataCollectroSvc" could not be running. Closed that as well and tried a third time. Now the uninstallation process starts and goes on until "Stopping Services" that fails with error message: [03-05-2020 10:32:12.0167] [1] The following 1 error(s) occurred during task execution: [03-05-2020 10:32:12.0167] [1] 0. Hi, Is it really necessary to complete steps 16-21 (migration sbs 2011 to server 2019) since the sbs server will no longer be used?
Hi! I probably made a giant mistake... Totally forgot a member server in the migration process. So I have not performed step 13 "Remove old SBS 2011 Client Agents" and step 15 "Install the connector software from the WSE2016" on the member server. Now when I demoted the SBS2011 in step 24, the users cannot connect via RDP to the member server. Error message "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted" Also when I try to login as administrator to the member server i get an error "There are ...
I realize that the various versions of Windows Server Essentials have a 25 user limit. Does this refer to 25 *simultaneous* users or a total of 25 users set up in the Dashboard? A lot of multi-user software uses a maximum count of simultaneous users, rather than the total number of potentially connected user accounts. For example, you could have defined 30 users, but no more than 25 would be logged in at a time. Second, can MS SQL Server be installed/run on an Essentials server? Or do we need a second "application" server for SQL Server? ...
I'm doing step by step migration sbs2011 to server 2019. but i don't understand this line: In the Powershell script change ADRestoreModePassword to something that only you know and then run the Powershell commands below. what powershell script do you mean? if i run "ADRestoreModePassword" it is not recognized, i already have an admin password which is the same on the old sbs2011 as on the new server2019. can you help?
