MailEnabled Public Folders not working after migration

Hello! I migrated my public folders from Exchange 2010 to 2016 several weeks ago. We have recently realized that we have not been receiving emails at those public folders since the move. I just sent a test email from my mailbox to one of the public folders. The email never appeared in the public folder, and I did not get an NDR in my mailbox reporting trouble of any kind. I have been trying to understand how message tracking works in Exchange 2016 so I can get to the bottom of what's happening, but I haven't ...

Prompting for Administrator or Other user when hitting control-alt-delete after policy reset

Hello, I just completed all steps in your SBS2011 to 2016 migration documentation. After doing step "Reset Default Domain and Default Domain Controllers policy (optional)", the workstations are bring up the administrators logon or another user when hitting control-alt-delete to login. You can select "other user" and logon but I would prefer to have it the way it used to be before going through the last step. I did backup the policies (per your instructions). Can I just import them back or do you know a way to disable this type of login in to the workstations? ...

Exchange 2016

Hello Mariette, a couple of questions: Since UCMA v5.0 is available, should I install that instead of UCMA v4.0?  In your tests, have you run into any problems with it working with Exch2016? Are there any additional or different steps that I need to perform if I install UCMA v5.0? Thanks, AJ

How to migrate skipped largeitem messages during migration from Exchange 2010 to Office365

I am migrating from Exchange 2010 on SBS 2011 to Exchange Online Plan 1 (Office365) using the cutover migration method.  The migration completes, but there are a large number of messages that were skipped due to them being too large. 1. Can I disable the message size limit and run the migration again?  If yes: (a) Is there a global message size limit that I can disable, or do I need to disable it for each mailbox individually, and (b) to run the migration again, do I just repeat the steps to run the original migration? ...

SBS 2011 to Server 2019 / Exchange 2019 migration | Licensing question

Hi There, So we'll be moving from our old an trusted SBS 2011 Server to a brand new Server 2019  / Exchange 2019 install pretty soon. For this purpose we have acquired a volume-license for Exchange 2019 and a Dell-OEM ROK License for Server 2019  (+ the required CALs for both off-course). I'm a bit green when it comes to MS Server licensing and activation, but it is my understanding that there needs to be a 90 day (waiting) period between activations and a complication is the ROK-License not allowing for Down-and-Upgrading. I'm planning to ...

What's the benefit and do I have to migrate the Certification Authority from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2016?

Hello and thank you for the guide, such a huge help! In chapter 16 of the SBS 2011 to Server 2016 Migration guide you wrote: "Why migrate the CA would you ask? One of the most important reasons to upgrade or migrate to newer operating system, is the ability to support newer hash algorithms and new cryptographic operations. As you already know, SHA-1..." dfsrmig /getmigrationstate and SBS 2011 Essentials

I'm using the SBS 2011 Essentials migration guide to deploy a new Windows Server 2019 Standard server.  I deployed the SBS 2011 Essentials box back in 2011 using Microsoft Open licensing ISO and not Dell OEM versions.  Have just started the FRS to DFSR steps by confirming domain level is already at Windows Server 2008 R2 functional level.  My next task was to run dfsrmig /getglobalstate and I learned that the state was already "eliminated" but I'm certain I've never performed the migration from FRS to DFSR in the past.  Running dfsrmig /getmigrationstate also shows the global state as "eliminated" ...

What SBS2011-like health or management reports are available after ws2016/19 & Exch2016/19 migration?

Having grown up with SBS, status reports are deemed essential by on-site management. Are there any pre-packaged scripts, or reasonably priced third party products, that I can use to produce such SBS-like reports for management and myself? In one instance, this would be for a charity that i look after and hence the budget is non-existent.

Migrating Mapped Drives

Hello, I am migrating SBS2011 to Windows 2016. I read in one of your articles that printers can be migrated before transferring the FSMO roles. I'm assuming mapped drives can be migrated before moving FSMO roles too? I'd like to do everything I can before moving the FSMO roles (I just don't like working under the time limit issue) but I didn't want to mess anything up because I went out of order in your migration instructions. Also, is there anything else that can be done before moving the FSMO roles? Thanks! Larry
