sbs 2011 removal

Hi, I am currently migrating from sbs 2011 to office 365 for email and a local 2019 server. I have migrated the email to 365 and have joined the 2019 server as another dc, I have also migrated dhcp, printers and user shares. I am at the stage where I am trying to remove exchange from the sbs2011 server. I have been following the guide and I am at the part where I try to remove the public folders. I ran the script and it said that I could not remove the public folder as it still ...

Confused with "migrate Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange Server 2013"

I'm sure I'm just over thinking this, But I'm left confused by the Forest level required to start a Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 first step. In "How to migrate SBS 2008 to Windows Server 2019 Standard, Datacenter or Essentials"  in the "FAQ" section... "When can I migrate Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange Server 2010/2016 or Office 365?" you state... "You can start with migrating your mailboxes from Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange Server 2010/2016/2019 even before you migrate the FSMO roles or do any other of the migration-related procedures in this guide but I ...

Split DNS configuration

Client has two internal servers that are published to the Internet, rww.company.com and mail.company.com. When going through the migration, I created an internal forward lookup zone for each address that is,  rww.company.com (A record 192.168.1.10) and another for mail.company.com, (A record 192.168.1.20).  Would there be a problem with creating only one zone, company.com, and adding both A records to that zone?

Switch over to Office365 this weekend but may need to access non migrated mailboxes

Hi All, Silly question I'm sure. This weekend I'm intending to switch over to office 365 email. I'm doing this mail switch over before doing any migration steps from sbs 2011 standard to server 2019 standard.  Just wanted to check if I will be able to connect to the office SBS2011 server using a computer with Office 2016 after I've done the following link below - I realise it is only dealing with autodiscover but I'm still dealing with a few old ex-employee mailboxes that I want to archive to pst.  The majority of mailboxes ...

Essentials Dashboard not deleting or ignoring alerts

When I delete or ignore an alert on the essentials dashboard (Server 2016 Essentials with latest updates), it has a loading bar that never completes.   I found another related question at:  https://server-essentials.com/community/answers/essentials-dashboard-not-ignoring-or-deleting-some-health-alerts This does clear the alerts until one is generated again, but does not fix the problem where alerts cannot be deleted or ignored from the dashboard.

Essentials Dashboard Not Ignoring or Deleting Some Health Alerts

Does anybody know how to fix this more recent problem with the Essentials Dashboard where it endlessly tries to process your request either ignoring or deleting an alert from Health Monitoring?  Or is everybody still waiting for Microsoft to fix this? Thank you! James

Removing the 2011 ClientAgents

I'm currently doing a Standard + Essentials Experience Role migration. Since I'm going for the Essentials role, the guides are slightly different but I noticed the Standard guides have a Powershell script to remove the 2011 ClientAgents that you tie to GPO. The Essentials guide has you remove them still, but manually and further down in the guide. If I get the clients removed ahead of time with the Powershell + GPO combo, is that going to break anything down the line? My concern is the weekend I do the majority of this work someone will have ...

SBS 2008 to wse2016 migration

How long does step 6 part 24 take to complete. I am at a blinking cursor after Adprep successfully updated the forest-wide information  and updated the domain-wide information. Still waiting for a PS prompt. Thanks, Dave

Running DCDIAG on SBS 2008 Pre-Migration Summary Issues

I know that it was specified to have the summary of DNS test results to all PASS. I had 2 WARN and 1 FAIL. I am not sure what I need to do to fix these issues. I have attached the report file. Dave

CA migration to Server 2019

Hi, I notice that on guide from SBS 2011 to 2019 the recommendation is to Migrate the CA however that step is not in the 2016 guide.  Exchange is hosted on O365. Questions: -Is there a reason for above?  -Is this step only a recommendation?   -What happens if one does not perform migration    Thanks much, Fernando Larrey

SBS2008 to 2016 Std Migration - How to schedule ?

Hello everyone, Very basic, I guess, question. Should the migration be done in 1 shot (Like over a week-end) or can the process be spread on several days / weeks ? I don't know ho to interpret this sentence This migration guide does not disrupt daily operations at all, so you do not lose any productivity time in your company.  Thanks and have a nice day Francois.

SBS 2008 Migration

Hi Team: I am thinking of purchasing SBS 2008 migration kit for migration to Server 2016 with support. Wondering: How would support work when I am in Canada.  What is the difference between Break/ Fix Vs Premium support. Would help be available if migration was planned in Dec 2019. Thanks for your help and quick response Mohindar Malhotra TCS

Does the Exchange 2016 migration guide apply to Windows Server 2016 Standard.

The Exchange 2016 migration guide states that it's based on the Windows Server 2016 Essentials server. Are the steps the same for Windows Server 2016 Standard?

Baseline Configuration Analyzer results

I have some warnings when running the Baseline Configuration Analyzer. We have migrated to O365 and these appear to be dealing with Exchange. Do these need fixed before moving forward? I haven't deleted the auto-discover virtual directory per your instructions but I did modify the entry to point to O365 before seeing your tutorial.  - Autodiscover host does not match - CAS Host does not match - Certificate subject does not match the name configured by a wizard - EWS Host does not match - OAB host does not match - The certificate for the remote desktop gateway ...

What point to uninstall Exchange 2010?

Hello, Sorry if this question has been answered a thousand times. I am starting our SBS2011 migration to 2016. Exchange has already been migrated to O365. When should I uninstall Exchange 2010? Before getting into the migration or at some step in the migration process? Thanks for your help. Larry

computers in network environment not visible

Before migration I could see all computers in network environment (file explorer). Now I can see just one or two machines . Of course I can see it if I type \\computername in the explorer address, but to do that I need to know all names of computers in my network. It looks that if I enable Computer Browser service in DC it works and I can see all machines. Is it secure solution?

Test account on Ex2016 not sending to Ex2010

So i have got to the end of section 6 for the EX2010 to EX2016 on premises migration, and can successfully log in to the new Ex2016 OWA  as a current AD User where the recipient is still on Exchange 2010, and can see all the e-mails etc, so that's good. I have just created a test account in Ex2016, and then logged into OWA ( as the new test user named e2016), and tried to send a test mail to my AD Ex2010 user, and nothing was received. Trying to use the Ex2016 Mail flow ...

sbs2011 to exchange 2016 domain names

Hi,I wanted to check my understanding of the Exchange migration Para 6 ( Certificates) On the SBS Server the Certificate is named remote.domain.com, and all outlook clients connect to remote.domain.com, both internally, and externally On the new Exchange 2016, Can I still use the same remote.domain.com certificate, as defined in Para 5 , or does there HAVE to be a distinction in the domain name ( ie mail.domain.com) on the new Exchange 2016 setup in order for the migration to complete correctly. and finally, where is the _autodiscover._tcp record held, I can't obviously see it ...

VPN not working after certificate expire and renew - Essentials 2016

So long story short I let my wildcard third party SSL certificate expire. VPN obviously stopped working so everyone was barking. I reordered the same cert from the company, creating a new request etc. I imported and all went well. I rebooted the server quite a few times, uninstalled and reinstalled recent updates but the VPN is not working. I have 443 ports open on my network (unifi usg router). I can access the https://remote. domainname .com/remote. The VPN will just not connect through windows. I have the subdomain rerouted to the external IP and it resolves fine. ...

Mapped drive migration

SBS2011 to WS2016 migrating covers migration of mapped drives. It looks that it is just rights migration, what about moving files from SBS2100 users shared folders to WS2016 shared folders? Should it be done manually?
