Windows 2008 r2 to Windows 2019 server

Hi,   I have a customer who has an existing Windows 2008 r2 server as its only domain controller and we want to add a new windows 2019 server to the domain and then promote it to a dc, move the fsmo roles over to it along with DHCP and then remove the old 2008 server from use. Would the Windows Server 2008 Migration kit Silver at 99.00 be the correct migration guide to show me all of the steps that are required?.

The network connection was aborted by the local system in Windows 10 VPN

Hello. My end users are no longer able to connect to their SSTP VPN via Windows 10. Evevn when connecting through the network and sharing center (not the taskbar) it immediately says "The network connection was aborted by the local system". I have tried restarting the rras and NLA service on the server (Server 2019), but no luck. Users were able to get in on Friday and one even worked this morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

WSUS in SBS 2011 to Server 2016 Migration Scenario

I'm working on an SBS 2011 to Server 2016 Std with Essentials Role Migration. Making one server into five! DC / Essentials ,  Exchange 2016, Apps (Server2016), SQL 2014 (Server 2012R2), SharePoint Foundation 2013 (2012R2) I can't seem to find any information on migrating the SBS WSUS over to Server 2016 WSUS (and if I can use the SQL 2014 server - or would it need SQL 2016) The Server 2016 App server would be running WSUS on along with other apps. Can anyone point me to some documentation on this, or should I just ...

Configure Exchange 2016 Certificates

I'm looking to purchased a UC Cert for the new Exchange 2016 server, with mail.domain.com and domain.com as specified in the guide.  Can i also add remote.domain.com as this is currently used by users, or does this cause a DNS loop as the existing SBS2011 uses remote.domain.com? I'm guessing that it probably does, but wanted to check. Thanks.

Move Access Anywhere to different IIS server

I have WSE 2016(server name = WSE2016) installed in a VM and Exchange 2016 (server name = ExchSrv) installed on another VM. Exchange OWA works when ports are forwarded to EchSrv. Access Anywhere works when ports are forwarded to the WSE2016 machine. Since both use 80/443 I have to pick one or the other to publish externally. Unless I can merge them into the same IIS server. From what I read, moving QWA to WSE2016 isn't going to work so I am curious if Access Anywhere can move to the IIS on ExchSrv. Or, if I am missing ...

SBS2011 to Exchange 2016 Certificate Migration

Hi, I'm at step 6 of the migration. My situation is that the existing SBS has a Digicert cert issues to remote.XXXX.com with its corresponding A record, which works well.  Ideally I don't want to change this as all users have this setup for mobile and RDS access, can i export the existing cert at a later stage instead of creating and buying a new one? Thanks.

SBS 2008 Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 Installation Fail Safe

Migrate Exchange Server 2007 from SBS 2008 to a new Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2 I’m at the stage where the next step is: 4. Install Exchange Server 2013 on the new Windows Server 2012 R2 member server At what point (if any) might this interfere with the operation of the existing (SBS 2008) Exchange 2007 functionality? My concern is that if, after starting the install, we run into a problem with 2013... and it does interfere... is there a way to temporarily ‘ disable ’ 2013 so ...

SBS2011 Migration to 2016, User downtime

Hi I just bought the SBS2011 to WS2016 + Onsite Exchange guide and i'm about to get going.  One question I have is, what impact this process will have on users, do i have to do this out of hours?  There are a fair number of steps and i'm wondering which ones will cause downtime, or access issues?  This will also include Exchange which from what i've read, is best done after step 5 and before 21! Thanks for your time. Richard.

Migrating from, 2008 to 2019 when Azure AD connect has been implimneted

Our client has already implemented AD Connect, and now we're doing a migration from a 2008 DC up to 2019.  Is it necessary to remove AD connect in order to do this or can we leave Azure as-is and then reconnect from the new 2019 Domain Controller? Thanks for any thoughts!

Hyper-V Server 2019

SBS 2008 Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013: Outlook Desktop Authentication Failures

On an SBS2008 Migration we’ve installed Ex2013 on 2012-R2 & migrated all the Mailboxes and while OWA and Active Sync are working fine, Outlook Desktop (on the same LAN) is producing authentication failures, i.e., it keeps requesting credentials and most of the time it doesn’t accept them. Exchange 2007 is still on the SBS2008 box (as we’re having problems uninstalling that too) but I don’t know if it’s that Ex2007 is still online or if it’s related to this... connect mac os 10.15 (catalina) to server 2016 essentials

Migration from SBS 2011 Standard to Windows 2016 Essentials is progressing, most issues solved nicely by our friends at server-essentials - and then: One user, with much Mac enthusiasm, has a MacBook Air, and is in the 'beta testing' loop with macOS Catalina.  https:// /connect downloads MacConnector.dmg, opens with DiskImageMounter to give  a window with Connector for Mac.  Running the connector produces 'You can't use this version of the application with this vesion of MacOS'.  The user diagnoses that the connector downloaded is 32-bit, and Catalina only runs 64-bit components. I sense another attempt by Apple ...

Windows Server Essentials 2016: Which version of the ADK for PXE support

Greetings, WSE 2016 supports a restore service available from PXE. The WSE Dashboard requires a local installation of a Windows 10 ADK and (indirectly) suggests a download from https://docs.microsoft.com/fr-ca/windows-hardware/get-started/adk-install WSE 2016 is release 1607: however the ADK is available for several versions and, starting with 1809, WinPE is only available from a separate addon. Which is the currently recommended version to download and install on WSE 2016? (actually, it is Windows server 2016 with the Essentials Experience Role, if this has any bearing on the issue ;-) Regards,

Autodiscover issue after migration from Exchange 2010 (SBS 2011) to Exchange 2016

Greetings! I just ran trough a "perfect" migration from Exchange 2010 to 2016: no error messages, etc. Exchange 2010 was uninstalled from SBS 2011 without any issue.   External autodiscover works as expected.   Internal autodiscover somehow picks up an old URL.   The SCP can be verified in Exchange 2016 :   [PS] E:\Notes>Get-ClientAccessService | fl AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri   AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri : https://postoffice.(domain.tld)/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml   where "postoffice" is the hostname of the Exchange 2016 server: this is what is expected.   Every virtual directory in ...
