Needing to preserve the original SBSe 2011 Server's Name after migrating to WSS 2019

My challenge is to migrate from a old SBSe 2011 server platform used in a heavy AutoCAD (LOB) environment, where most every AutoCAD project has large numbers of embedded UNC server-based file references.   In the past, I used Jeff Middleton's Swing Migration, which used a temporary secondary domain controller to transfer Active Directory from the SBS server and then used a THIRD (final target) server running then then-latest version of Windows Server Standard bearing the original SBSe server's name.    My goal is to migrate the SBSe 2011 SYSTEM (Drive C: with Windows, AD, DNS, Redirected folders, etc.) and ...

Questions about Configure Outlook anywhere

I am confused about the powershell commands in the instructions.  I have attached the output from running those commands.   Server names  sbs 2011 = enterprise7 Server 2016 exchange 2016  = yorktowncv5 Running the command Set-OutlookAnywhere   powershell asks for additional parameters. Running Get-ExchangeServer | Where {($_.AdminDisplayVersion -Like "Version 14*") -And ($_.ServerRole -Like "*ClientAccess*")} | Get-ClientAccessServer | Where {$_.OutlookAnywhereEnabled -Eq $True} | ForEach {Set-OutlookAnywhere "$_\RPC (Default Web Site)" -ClientAuthenticationMethod Basic -SSLOffloading $False -ExternalHostName $Exchange2016HostName -IISAuthenticationMethods NTLM, Basic} produces an error. When all is done, it looks like enterprise7 is still the outlook anywhere server.  Bruce ...

WSUS does not find computers

We are running windows server 2016 standard. we have three domain servers and about 80-100 computer clients. WSUS is loaded on a box running win server 2016 standard that is NOT a domain controller. It will not find any computers. It does appear to be downloading all of the updates for distribution but has no where to distribute. I have found 3-4 different troubleshooting docs online which I have followed without any results. Per the various steps WSUS is loaded, the WSUS box finds the dns server ok, the clients find dns, the clients ping the WSUS ...

Question on pfx certificate in SBS2011 to Exchange 2016 migration

In the SBS2011 to Exchange 2016 migration document,  6. Configure Exchange Server 2016 certificates, a PFX certificate is used in the example.  We use GoDaddy certs and they are delivered in a .CRT format.  Will this work for the Exchange 2016 migration?  If not, how to best generate or convert? Migration SBS 2011 to 2019 on Same Server

I need to migrate from SBS 2011 to Server 2019, but I want to keep the same server (box). The server has the OS on the c: drive and the data files on the e: drive. Exchange was moved to 365 some time ago. SBS is using AADC to sync from SBS to Azure. My goal is to have the current SBS box run 2019 and keep the redirected user files as is on the existing box. The information I see here really doesn't support what I want to do as it seems tailored to move ...

Possible folder redirection issue, a single user's files are missing.

After we moved everyone over and demoted the sbs 2011 server, a user mentioned that they were missing all of their desktop and document items. I've gone back to the old server to try and locate the items to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Migrating from Essentials 2012 R2

We use WSE 2012 R2 for our home office.  Server backups are failing and it won't let me alter the backup configuration.  Not sure what is happening.  I can still access the server and it continues to backup my PC's.  I'm at a crossroads.  I love the functionality of WSE 2012 R2.  I need the remote access and I want it to backup my PC's, as well as itself.  I want it to be a domain controller as well as a file server.  However, it seems the latest versions would allow it to be a DC and a ...

Uninstalling the SBS 2011 Client via GPO SBS 2011 -> server 2019 guide chapter 6. Uninstall SBS 2011 Client Agent software

TL/DR: Where are you supposed to put a PS file on the server so that the desktops can run it when it's in a GPO?  And what path do you use in the GPO? In chapter 6, the guide says: 6.6 Go to the desktop of the server. Wrap it up and put in a Powershell script that runs on all clients on your network. Save the Connector.ps1 to your desktop, right-click and choose Copy (we will paste that later) then  6.10 says Paste the Connector.ps1 [into the GPO path of the file to run] ...

Exchange 2019 stops allowing email on remote devices randomly

Our Exchange 2019 on-prem server has an issue whereby roughly once every week or so (no pattern just random) mobile devices stop syncing email and the only way we have found to fix is to reboot the server which is obviously not a ideal solution. The server is a virtual server running Windows 2019 Exchange with the latest CU10 update and all windows updates on a Windows 2019 Hyper V host. Server specs are as follows: Exchange 2019 (VM): CPU: Intel Xeon Silver 4110 @ 2.1ghz (6 virtual processors) RAM: 60GB Ram (20% use typically) HDD: ...

Problems after last update in the last few days on WSE 2016

I'm seeing a lot of different errors on my WSE 2016 Server after last windows update:  - DFS doesn't work, error "RPC SERVER UNAVAILABle" (translate from Italian) - VPN works only inside my corporate network, from outside it doesn't work. If I try to "repair" from WSE dashboard I get port80 and 443 error (the same error affect use but I solved it some time ago)  - Remote site (remote.mydomain.com/remote) works but when I log in it shows a red X and a message: "impossible to access.. contact your administrator" or something similar - ...

Any advice? Trying (and failing) to use the sbsmigration 10% code

There's the 10% off discount code on the top of the store page, but when I add it to the cart, it doesn't give a discount to an SBS 2011 - Office 365 DIY migration package. I tried when not logged in and then created an account and added the code - same result.  It says 'No Discount Found'.  User error? Anyone have success or failure with the code?

Cant connect Essentials 2016 to M365

good evening everyone  I have 2 existing servers which no longer synchronize with MS365. I then opened a new M365 tenant yesterday and reinstalled an Essentials 2016, which also does not connect to M365. Is that a Microsoft bug? Is there anything new to consider?

Windows Server Essentials 2016 + Office 365 Password Sync Broken

Recently, we had a security issue that required a couple user passwords to be reset.  A person went and reset them in the Office 365 portal, which broke password sync on Windows Server Essentials.   I had this happen several years ago with Windows Server Essentials 2012, but I can't remember how I fixed it.  I do know that changing passwords in the Office 365 portal breaks the password sync with the onsite windows server. What is the best way to troubleshoot and fix this?
