Hello, My attempt to install Exchange 2016 on Server 2016 following your instructions failed. My Domain Admin account apparently doesn't have the needed rights and permissions, so I'll follow the links indicated to read up on that. I find it odd that it says near the end that the Forest functional level is not Windows Server 2003 native or later, and "Either Active Directory doesn't exist, or it can't be contacted.' My Domain and Forest functional Levels are both "Windows Server 2008 R2." My main concern is the part that I underlined below: "No Exchange Server 2010 roles have ...
Hello All: I am hoping that someone can help me fix a couple of problems that I am having with integrating Windows Server 2012 R2 with Office 365 and starting the DNS service on my server. When I look at the DNS section of the server, I get the following warning: The DNS server is waiting for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to signal that the initial synchronization of the directory has been completed. The DNS server service cannot start until the initial synchronization is complete because critical DNS data might not yet be ...

I'm getting an error when attempting to run Remove-WssConfigurationData –Force to remove the Essentials Experience role from my Server 2012 Essentials server. Error is similar to the one when trying to backup the CA on the same server with PS. I haven't attempted to run the 2nd command for this task with Remove-WindowsFeature ServerEssentialsRole. This server didn't have any Office365 or Exchange integration setup. All client PC connectors have been removed and the client PC backups were also removed. Its is possible that Server 2012 Essentials has a different cmdlet to remove the Wss Configuration Data? This server is not ...
Hi! First attempt to run setup.com /mode:uninstall gave an error message that "Windows SBS Console" was open. Closed the console and tried a second time. New error message that "DataCollectroSvc" could not be running. Closed that as well and tried a third time. Now the uninstallation process starts and goes on until "Stopping Services" that fails with error message: [03-05-2020 10:32:12.0167] [1] The following 1 error(s) occurred during task execution: [03-05-2020 10:32:12.0167] [1] 0. Hi I had a working Windows Server Essentials 2016. I have changed Router and after that VPN and Remote web access do not working. I have trying repair but I got that error messege, Domain Service cannot be reached Dynamic DNS cannot be updated What can I do to fix that ;-) Please help
I've been unable to get the Server Essentials Role uninstalled. The PowerShell command starts the process and it looks like it's running fine but at some point (the last time was 57%) it hangs for a long period of time with no activity then fails for a timeout stating that the process didn't complete in the time allotted. I'm not seeing any entries in the Application or System log that indicate a problem. I'm not sure where to go from here. Is it possible just to bypass this step? Should I try running it from the Roles removal? ...
Hello, Is there a way to connect to the VPN on Essentials 2016 without using the wizard? The wizard installs an application that I do not want to install for my users. Does anyone know if its possible to just connect to the VPN the old fassioned way, using the Network and Sharing Center? Thanks!
Windows 10 1709 clients and Server 2016 Standard with Essentials Role. DirectAccess is configured on the server, but these clients are directly connected to the network (same subnet as server). The Connector installed without problems a few days ago and immediately after install, the connector was green and a manual client backup initiated from the Essentials console worked fine. Now it stays grey, indicating the server is unavailable/offline ... even though network shares are accessable. Laptops connecting through DirectAccess show online in the Essentials console, while all the IPv4 connected workstations are showing as offline. Maybe this is IPv6 related? ...
Client server running Essentials 2012 R2. In the Server Dashboard, I am not able to connect to Office 365. This problem occurs intermittently. When I select Change Office 365 administrator account to troubleshoot, I get the following error: "Cannot connect to Microsoft online services. Make sure that the computer is connected to the Internet and try again." Steps taken: Restarted the server Tried different password: I get an error telling me the username or password is incorrect. This seems to indicate that the server is able to connect to Office 365 services and ...
I started DFSR replication before the server essentials role was completely configured and now I get the error you cannot start the essentials dashboard until configuration is complete. The attempt to complete configuration fails, with reboot and try again. I cannot uninstall the server essential role either?
When I delete or ignore an alert on the essentials dashboard (Server 2016 Essentials with latest updates), it has a loading bar that never completes. I found another related question at: https://server-essentials.com/community/answers/essentials-dashboard-not-ignoring-or-deleting-some-health-alerts This does clear the alerts until one is generated again, but does not fix the problem where alerts cannot be deleted or ignored from the dashboard.
Hi, I have moved the WSE 2016 from a physical computer to a virtual machine, and then upgraded the OS to be Server Standard maintaining the Essentials Experience. It was working, but now the Essentials management service will not start with an error 1067. There are faults in the event log related to .NET and sharedserviceshost, but that doesn't really tell me much. The backup service also crashes. Could this be a VM related setting? It has plenty of assigned memory and CPU I believe. Thanks for any help,
I'm cleaning up a SBS2011 server for migration to Server 2016 with Essentials role. I've got a System error 10009. DCOM was unable to communicate with TempDC.local, which was a temp DC from a swing migration years ago. Is it essential to get this cleaned up now and will it cause any issues if I do it after the migration?
I have apparently installed Exchange 2016 on the host Hyper-v server and not the intended virtual machine! Not sure how that happened. Do I have to uninstall Exchange? If yes, how do I do that?
The internal/external URL on sbs 2011 is aready mail.domain.com. Is it safe to assume that the exch 2016 internal/external urls shouldn't match? Also, at what point do I change the incoming smtp and ssl ports to point to the new server? i had 600GB of mail to migrate so thus coexistence needs to be intact for a while.
Hello, I migrated an exchange 2007 on SBS2008 to a new win12/exch13 server following this guide : https://server-essentials.com/support/articleid/150/how-to-migrate-exchange-server-2007-from-sbs-2008-to-a-new-exchange-server-2013-on-windows-server-2012-r2 It's working quit fine, I adapted the "send connector" to the new server I didn't touch the "receive connectors" Alerts --> Version 8.3 / Scoping: Network: All IPv4:25 Default SBS2008 --> Version 8.3 / Scoping Network : SBS2008 IP FaxMaker --> Is this standard? I received this error when performing step 10 of uninstalling Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008. I have attached a screen shot of the command and the error.
Hello; I have made it to step 10 in Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 (first step) and I moved one mailbox and thought I would test. I don't want to be caught with users unable to use their email. I migrated the mailbox and tried to add it as another account on to my Outlook but was unable to add the account upon close and reopen of Outlook, I'm greeted with a popup Microsoft Outlook The Microsoft Exchange Address Book was unable to log on to Exchange. Contact your system administrator if the problem persists. ...
Where do I find a guide to remove the Exchange Server 2010 after I have moved everything to the new Exchange Server 2016?
I am preparing to introduce Exchange 2016 to my domain this week. I have read through the guide but I have a couple of questions: I have an SSL certificate installed on SBS 2011 for SMTP and IIS for mail.mydomain.co.uk - do I need to purchase a second one for the Exchange 2016 server? Can I continue to use mail.mydomain.co.uk on the new server to remove the need for me to update all of my mobile clients? At what point will the users begin connecting to the 2016 server? If my existing Outlook ...
