Where can I find the Downloads of the PowerShell scripts.
Migrating SBS 2011 to Windows 2019 and O 365. In best practices analyzer I get No DNS Name Server Records. The delegated _msdcs record is present and appears as a greyed-out folder as the built-in Resolution suggests. Properties > Name Server Tab shows the SBS and its IP per the explanation. The instruction says "Verify the settings are correct." Make changes and save. But there's nothing to change and and warning persists. Suggestions? Or will it matter if i leave it.
Hi, I am migrating from sbs 2010 to server 2016 and office 365 for emails, having nearly got to the end of the migration, email is migrated and so is the data off the server. My question is that the client computers are still looking to the old server for their windows updates. How do I stop this so that they are just looking to the internet?.
I have not been able to solve "HomeMDB attribute is not set to default value" in BPA. Will this matter moving to O365? The current attribute value is left over from a previous migration.
Chapter 16, migrating certificate authority. Part 23. Certification Authority Web Enrollment is greyed out, but Certificate Enrollment Web Service is open. Now, when I started on Chapter 16, I had initially forgot to uninstall Exchange 2010 on the old SBS server. So I went ahead and did that, but might it have been too late after the install has started for the CA on the new server? I don't want to uninstall and reinstall the CA on the new server without confirmation that might fix it or if I'm screwed.
15. Install Connector Software from WSE2016 on the clients - hangs at step 8 After Step 8, VM Windows 7 Pro client boots to a new local user __clientsetup__$ and asks for password. Since password is unknown the only option is to boot back into the domain admin account previously logged into at start of process. Cannot start connector install again as it is "in progress" Thanks for providing some insight. BTW, if I read correctly, after Step 16 I should begin the Exchange Server 2016 migration. Is this correct? Todd
Hi Server-Essentials community :) Have a quick question for anyone that might have some tips for me... actually running an SBS 2011 plus a fileserver (that is also acting as a DC and DNS server) at building A, plus another fileserver (also DC and DNS server) at building B, connected by a VPN. Fileservers are replicated with DFSR through the VPN. Both buildings are, or course, on different subnets. Now, we're combining both buildings into one. Will need to change IP's from SBS 2011 and fileserver from building A to match subnet of building B. ...
For the sake of clarity, the SBS 2011 Dashboard looks essentially like what is below. The desired shares on the E:\ Drive have had their data copied to the WSE2016 using robocopy. Do I need to use robocopy to migrate the data in the shares listed on the C:\ or does that come over in a later step? (the magic in 16). C:\Users C:\Users\FolderRedirections C:\Users\Public C:\Users\Shares E:\Corel_Files E:\Faxes E:\Justice E:\law E:\PSLIPS E:\Quicken E:\Scans Thanks Todd
Hi All, Just starting out on the road to migrating from SBS 2011 standard to server 2019 standard so hello to everyone and thank you Mariëtte and team for the wonderful guides! I just noticed that I get this error "Errors occurred while importing the modules" but have also noticed it on the Server-Essentials guidance screenshots so wondered if it was something that needed to be fixed? It didn't stop me continuing to step 1.4 in running the command { Get-Module } This is my server screenshot but the error is the same on ...
Two Parts: 1. I am migrating SBS 2011 to Exchange Online and Server 2019 Standard. We now use a public folder for contacts containing some 14,000 contact items. This is set to show as an email address book. Can this folder be made to migrate? We are using Outlook 2013. 2. We use Code2 Exchange Sync to place copies of this folder under users' mailboxes so that they will sync to mobile devices via ActiveSync. What's the right way to accomplish this functionality in Exchange Online? Thanks in advance!
I need to move a 500GB mail store from the C; drive of a Exchange 2016 VM to the D: of the same server. I'm planning on using the Tutorial on this site. Anybody have a time estimate for how long to move the store? I need to tell the owner about how long the email will be shut down. Also, would it be a good idea to create a check point before this operation?
I need to move 1.5TB of data from a 2008R2 server to a 2016 ST VM. It's a large store with a lot of sub folders. I need to move everything with permissions. The current plan is to use robocopy.
Is there a "best practices" document on these subjects?
Migrate files and folders SBS 2011 to Server 2016 Standard with Essentials Role I'm a bit confused on the data migration. The example only addresses the "Travel Expenses" share and none of the other system shares. On the 2016 Essentials Dashboard, I used the move folder link to move the existing folders created during installation from the C:\ Drive to the E:\ Drive. Although not addressed specifically, I assume that the shares created subsequent to standing up the SBS 2011 served need to be created using the Dashboard under E:\ServerFolders. Would the exception be ...
Are there any special steps that need to be taken if migrating from SBS 2008 to SE 2016 if Exchange has been turned off on the SBS Server and mail is already flowing to/from Office 365? I'm wondering if there are any "hooks" into Active Directory that have to be removed before the migration?
We have an Essentials 2016 set up with Exchange and Essentials on the same IP address. Now I have an extra address which will allow reverse dns for both if I give each it's address. I am looking to see if I understand what needs to be done to make that happen. And someone suggested it is a bad idea. Kal
Hi! I am migrating from an SBS2011 to a new server hardware with server 2016. As it is not supported to migrate the Exchange Server onto the domain controller, I want to (have to) migrate to Exchange 2016 on the existing hardware of the SBS2011, of course after installing server 2016 on this machine. This will result in the loss of the old Exchange 2010 server on SBS before the new machine is active. Going through the SBS to Server 2016 Essential tutorial the Exchange migration is in the middle of the process, however I need to ...
Now at the files migration and mailbox moving stage - can I change the router now?
Thanks again for the quick turn-around on questions as I bump into things during thei migration. I just hit another snag on step 11. Migrate DHCP Scope and settings from SBS 2011 to Windows Server Essentials 2016 Remove-WindowsFeature DHCP netsh dhcp server export was successful. Subsequently ran: Remove-WindowsFeature DHCP This returned " Gthe term 'Remove-WindowsFeature' is no recognized as the name of a cmdlet... Is Uninstall-WindowsFeature the proper cmdlet? If yes, what would be the complete PS command?
Thanks for answering my previous question so promptly! I believe this is related to IPV6, but don't know what to do about it or if it's even relevant. Can you help? Processing step 8 results in the following: Summary of DNS test results: Auth Basc Forw Del Dyn RReg Ext _________________________________________________________________ Domain: huesolaw.local JUSTICE PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS MIRANDA PASS WARN WARN PASS PASS WARN PASS JUSTICE is server 2016 MIRANDA is SBS 2011 This is what I believe to be the pertinent ...
I have a question related to your document on How the administrator can gain access to redirected folders owned by domain users and which are created by a policy using ‘grant the user exclusive rights’. It looks like from our testing you have to rerun it every time you either add a new user or make a change to the WSE Folder Redirection Policy. Is that correct? Our test went like this: We ran the script and it did change the permissions for the users that were already created and that ...
SBS 2011 is fully patched Following instructions to right click on PS and select import system modules ruturn the following error: Cannot load windows powershell snap-in Microsoft.WindowsServerSolutions.SBS.Powershell.MoveData becauls of the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Bin\MoveDatacmdlet.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. Is there a solution for this issue? Todd
Hi, I have migrated a customer of mine off exchange 2010 on premise to office 365 and I have amended the registry on the local clients so that they connect directly to office 365 and ignore the local autodiscover for old local exchange server. I now want to remove the exchange 2010 from the domain, is there a migration guide for the safe removal of the exchange server?. Also prior to removal of the exchange server is there a command that can be run to remove the local autodiscover records from AD so that the ...
I have started the migration batch for the 4 arbitration mailkboxes 2 days ago. It never ends and the status says "Synchronising". In the report i can see that the job is connected with both Servers and the databases. If i display the Mailboxes in exchange powershell i can see the first three mailboxes are still on the old server and the other four are on the new exchange 2016 server. What could i do in this case ?
I'm doing an SBS2008 migration to Server 2016 and ran the process to uninstall Exchange 2007. It ran through all the steps like in the guide getting all successfuls. Although the "Management Tools" was not listed during the removal process as in guide screenshot. 1. The files are all still in Program Files 2. Exchange 2007 still shows in Add/Remove Programs 3. The Exchange services are all gone except for the SBS Pop Connector service. 4. Registry shows these entries: ADSIEdit shows the CN=Services CN=Microsoft Exchange but it is empty ...
