At line:1 char:40 + Remove-Computer -UnjoinDomaincredential <<<< webgum\administrator -PassThru -Verbose -Restart + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Remove-Computer], ParameterBindingException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.RemoveComputerComman I then just followed the screen shot and typed Remove-Computer but ...
It's taken me a while to get migrated to Step 16 in the guide but I've managed to remove Exchange from the server after successfully getting onto Office365. My question is with me starting step 16 - and then completing the 17,18, and 19 without any delays. How quickly do I need to do these four steps - 1 day, 2 days or 4 or more...and why? Sorry to ask, I'm doing the migration during the evenings when I'm able to concentrate on the process without distractions.
i can't find your instructions for changing the scripts for Outlook Anywhere after migration from SBS 2011/exchange 2010 to Office 365. I know they are there, but i can't find them.
Mariette Is there any reason why you use (recommend) robocopy and not DFRS to move files and folders to new server? JOE
When trying to log in I get error "No server available...". I noticed Active Directory Server Service and dependencies fall to start.
I'm a migration from SBS2008 with Exchange 2007 migration to Server 2016 with Essential's Experience and Server 2016 with Exchange 2016. I understand that Exchange 2016 does not support migration from legacy Exchange 2003/2007 and that I should migrate first to Exchange 2013 and then to 2016. Would the correct order of migration be as follows? Migrate SBS2008 to 2016 EE exept Exchange Create a server 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013 and migrate Exchange 2007 to 2013 Then create a server 2016 with Exchange 2016 and then migrate Exchange 2013 to 2016. Thank's ...
Hello, I've made a SBS 2008 to Windows 2016 server migration following the guide: How to migrate from SBS 2008 to Windows Server 2016 (Essentials) . I didn't migrate exchange 2007. Is there a way to proceed? Will building a new Windows 2012 server for SBS/exchange2017 --> win2012/exchange2013 migration work having already migrate the domain controller to 2016? Thank you for your advice Regards, Nicolas
How can I remove unwanted computer backups created by 2016 Essentials? I don't have enough disks space to store computer backups but before I could disable one of the computers, it backed up using 40+ GB of needed space. I removed the backup using the Dashboard for this computer and selected to have the backup files deleted. The files still appear. Will they be removed by a scheduled process or do I need to remove them? If so, how can I do this? Many thanks. --Art

Migrate Exchange Server 2010 to Exchange Server 2016 in a SBS 2003 migration scenario Hello, During this migration, are the Exchange Servers offline or unreachable for the users at any time? Can I do this migration on the fly? We only have 10 mailboxes, and if the servers were unavailable for an hour or so, that would not be a problem. I just want to know if that's the case and at which point. Thanks, Thomas
Hi, following the tutorial to install a Hyper-V Core Server 2012/2016 ( Install and configure RSAT on Windows 10 and make it a management workstation that connects to a Hyper-V 2016 core server in a workgroup ) I got a problem when trying to edit the RSAT via DCOMCNFG as Admin: there are no "Properties" under MyComputer selectable. So i can't set the anonymous login as suggested (Steps 4-6). Any ideas how to fix ? RSAT Client is running Win10 64 Pro 1809 in a Workgroup, tried also with Client in in AD - but same situation. EventMgr ...
I am following the guide to migrate from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2016 and am stuck at the second step which is Migrate FRS to DFSR replication in SBS 2011. It has been over 2 hours and when I enter the command dfsrmig /getmigrationstate i always get "migration has not yet reached a consistent state on all Domain Controllers. State information might be stale due to AD latency." Is this normal? Should I continue to wait?
hi, there seems mixed opinions on whether to virtualise server 2019 for a migration or use new physical hardware. we have a new dell server with 2019 ready for the migration as most of the opinions seem to suggest this is the more stable route - especially when the server is also a heavy duty file server, 10gb fibre connection, dhcp, dns server, vpn, remote access, firewall and a few other services. any advice or opinions on this would be appreciated before we proceed with the migration guide...
Mariette, If I have my clients move to Exchange on Line P2 already can I safely ignore the exchange updates and rollups as part of the migration? I have all Exchange services disabled except for the service that allows me to receive SBS reports. Joe
I remember in past years migrations that using the /mir switch with Robocopy was generally not recommended due to the fact that if files are removed in the destination directory, they'll also be removed in the source directory. I was only bitten by that once in actual practice. I am wondering what switches are currently best practice to use instead to get the same content copied but remove the risk of a deletion on destination propagating back to the source folder.
I got a little carried away and moved the FSMO roles to my new server. Can I move them back to the SBS 2011 and thereby stop its countdown?

Hi, I have a Windows Server Essentials 2016 Network at home with several Clients (All win 10 x64 professional, current Patchlevel, the problem occurs on ver 1809 as well as on 1903. I have my DNS set up on my server, works fine. The local DNS is being propagated on the network by my router, so all clients are on autodetection of DNS and find my DNS correctly, A single client suddenly started to set the DNS as if it was set manually in the network adapter options under Ipv4 and Ipv6. This resulted in the network ...

Hi everyone - first time user of these guides and all gone well so far! Step 7, Migrate SBS2008/Exchange 2007 guide When trying to set-outlookanywhere in section 3 of Step 7: [PS] C:\Windows\system32> $Exchange2013HostName = "mail.contoso.com" [PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-ExchangeServer | Where {( $_ .AdminDisplayVersion -Like "Version 8*" ) -And ( $_ .ServerRole -Like "*ClientAccess*" )} | Get-ClientAccessServer | Where { $_ .OutlookAnywhereEnabled -Eq $True } | ForEach {Set-OutlookAnywhere " $_ \RPC (SBS Web Applications)" -ClientAuthenticationMethod Basic -SSLOffloading $False ...
After we have completed the migration guide, is it safe to change the Static IP address of the new Server to that same static IP address of the old server that we are no longer using anymore?
Hello togehter, I am wondering, at which point, I have to start with the Exchange Migration on this guide. If I finish this guide until the end (demote SBS2011 aso), is the Exchange still up and running? If yes, I would start with Exchange migration after this complete guide, from Exchange 2010 to E2016 and finaly E2019. regards, Thomas
Hi, Just a quick question, I've just stopped before beginning step 10 in the guide "Transfer the operations master roles from the SBS 2011 to the Windows Server 2019 server". I'm using Migrationwiz to migrate email to Office 365 and have been running the pre-migration this week with a view to doing the MX "cutover" this weekend. Should I complete the transition to O365 before I go forward and continue with step 10? Thank you J
